Zaid was a quick learner and his hands-on approach, passion and sheer hard work helped him succeed in taking Firstpress to the levels it has achieved today. As a person, he was very approachable and adaptable and instilled a family like environment within the workplace, regularly dining with all staff in the canteen. This gained him a lot of respect with employees who always went the extra mile for him.
Unfortunately, due to ill health, Zaid had to reduce his working hours and workload, but still maintained a keen interest in the running of the business and was hands on as much as he still could be.
Working less gave him the opportunity to concentrate on his extensive and varied charity work. He funded many children, in several countries, who couldn’t afford to get an education and weddings for poor families who were unable to pay themselves. He offered financial support to widows struggling to look after their own families, but by far his greatest act of charity was the countless orphans he sponsored, giving them the opportunity to make something of their own lives.
Sadly, on the 7th July 2017, we unexpectedly lost this great man who has left a hole within our organization. However, has legacy lives on and it is with the same passion, work ethos, approachability and generosity that we continue to build on the great achievements of Firstpress.
Javed’s honest and transparent approach to business helped cement current business as well as gain new custom with some internationally renowned brands taking Firstpress to new heights.
Javed quickly established himself as a key member of the Birmingham Business Community holding various influential roles including Vice President of the Institute of Asian Businesses, part of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, and a role which he held for 8 years. He was also a Director of the Birmingham Asian Businesses Association. Javed was rewarded and recognised for all his efforts when, in 2007, he was presented with the Asian Jewel Award for Businessman of the Year.
In 2012 he was heavily involved in the design and manufacture of the Olympic Torch Key for the London 2012 Olymipics. Firstpress was recognized for this achievement winning the IAB Silver Jubilee ARUP International Trade Business of the Year award. http://www.midlandsbusinessnews.co.uk/olympic-torch-key-designer-wins-iab-business-awards/
Outside of business, Javed is heavily involved in Community and Charity work. He was on the board of directors for a Secondary School and is on the boards of various organizations. Just like his late brother, he is also heavily involved in charity work and is a Director of an eye hospital in Pakistan that offers free eye treatment for the poor.
